Scottsdale and the Valley of the Sun has a great selection of sports and outdoor recreation activities for your personal needs. Individual participation activities such as walking, skating, jogging, tennis, pickleball, fishing, swimming and more. Join a team and compete in volleyball, softball, basketball, kickball and more! Enjoy our Scottsdale Parks and Trails, the McDowell Mountain Preserve, Pinnacle Peak and places to hike, bike and run! Scottsdale’s year-round sunny weather, warm and arid climate, and many outdoor enthusiasts make it one of the most outgoing cities in the country. While golf may be the preference of many folks-and with more than 250 golf courses in the area, you can believe they’re satisfied-hiking and biking are all the rage in in the Valley of the Sun.
The facilities where these activities are held also make great locations for corporate or social functions. Pick the sport or adventure activity that best fits your interests, we are sure you will not be disappointed!
With over 20 community parks and countless hiking trails, you can’t throw a walking stick or a bicycle wrench without hitting a foothill to bike, a desert mountain to climb, or an open range to explore.
But when it comes to outdoor activities, that’s just for starters. You could also take part in a wide variety of other outdoor recreation in Scottsdale, like horseback riding, hot-air balloon rides, desert Jeep tours, touring Sedona and Salt River Canyon, visiting the Phoenix Zoo, or taking in the Desert Botanical Gardens.

SUMMER ADULT LEAGUE SPORTS AND REGISTRATION DATES
Summer 2016 registration opens online May 2nd for residents and May 4th for non-residents. Summer 2016 team registration will close on May 27th. To register online you need a credit card, team account, and two account codes. Other forms of payment, such as a check, must be applied to your account prior to registration. To submit a different form of payment in advance, or to verify your team account information, please call the Sports office at 480-312-0227.

Adult Sports offers four seasons Coed Kickball throughout the year. Kickball operates on many of the same rules as coed softball. Most rules are general guidelines for kickball and similar to other organizations, but some rules were adapted to meet city ideals and keep the game simple, safe and fun. Games are played Monday – Friday evenings, with 14 league games, two games each night, one night a week, and a single elimination tournament.

City of Scottsdale offers four seasons of 5-on-5 adult basketball. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. The 5-on-5 Spring, Summer and Fall leagues play two nights a week; Monday / Wednesday or Tuesday / Thursday depending on team preference.

Scottsdale Adult Sports offers several seasons of Flag Football. The Spring and Fall leagues generally play on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Vista del Camino and Eldorado fields. The Winter and Summer 8 on 8 leagues play on Tuesday nights from 6:30 – 10:30 p.m. at the Horizon complex. Scottsdale Flag Football is 7 on 7 non-contact, all-eligible and 8 on 8 limited contact, all-eligible
ADULT SOFTBALL (Men’s and Co-ed) http://www.scottsdaleaz.gov/sports/softball
Adult Sports offers men’s and coed softball. Leagues run year-round with four separate seasons: Winter/Spring/Summer/Fall. Games are played Monday – Friday evenings, with 14 league games and a single-elimination tournament. Double-header game times are 6:30 p.m. / 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. / 9:30 p.m. – unless otherwise stated. Teams generally play two games, one night per week.

The city of Scottsdale is now offering Indoor Volleyball. We are starting a Men’s, Women’s, and Coed League. Games will be offered on Mondays through Thursdays. The league will run seven weeks of regular season play followed by a single elimination post-season tournament. Games will be played at Mohave Middle School. The city of Scottsdale offers adult sand volleyball leagues with post-season tournaments in four-person power/competitive and six-person co-ed leisure formats. The league calendar is seven to 12 total weeks, depending on the number of teams in the league, including a one or two week post-season tournament.
Leagues are offered four seasons per year at Indian School Park:
- Four-person power Monday evenings
- Six-person co-ed leisure Tuesday evenings
- Four-person power Wednesday evenings
- Six-person co-ed leisure Thursday evenings

The Arthur W. DeCabooter Athletic Complex is home to the SCC Artichokes and includes a football field, a soccer field, two softball fields, two baseball fields, racquetball courts, tennis courts, a Fitness and Wellness Center, and even a putting green.
